Trip Report Ran into bad beats today Date: 06/23/07 Player: mike886 For Rooms: Monte Carlo, Summary: Got shot down at Monte Carlo Content: I am playing a lot at Monte Carlo because they have a freeroll for locals in July. You have to play 50 hours in June to qualify. Played the 9 am tournament. Made the final table, (usually do), and down to the last 5. I was the short stack so I went all in with Jc9c. Got called by one of the large stacks that said, "I shouldn't, but here goes". He flips over Ks8c. I really just wanted to take down the blinds which were 1k and 2k. Flop comes 4s, 8c, Js. Turn 9s, yeah 2 pr for me. River 10s, lose to his flush on the river. After that I played 1/2 nl. Now the book I told you about in my previous post preached to only play limit, never nl. He said even the biggest game at Bobby's Room is limit. So, you can guess what happened. I bought in for $200. 2nd hand got AsQs. I bet $50 and got called. Flop was 4s, Ac, J,d. I bet another $50 and got called. Turn was 2h. I put the other guy on AK so I went all in. He had a set of 4's and that was the end of me. My daily gambling money was shot down. I call both of them bad beats, but I don't feel that bad, because it was the money I had won 2 days before. I learned my lesson the hard way to not play nl anymore. It is going to be difficult to stay away from nl, because it is more exciting than limit, but I am going to try. My poker winnings are what we do fun stuff with, like eating out and buying things. My wife and I have been living here for 6 weeks now and it is still unbelievable. Like a permanent vacation. I am still waiting to work, I am a Massage Therapist and it takes a while to get licensed here. Once licensed I am going to specialize in Dealer Massage for repetitive motion injuries. I practise a special type of muscle release massage which can cure things like Carpal Tunnel, etc. Sorry for the advertsing, maybe it won't post. That's all today!! Mike. mikeandaloha@yahoo.com |
