Long Tournament at Sahara
Date: 04/21/07
Player: Max 18
For Rooms: Sahara,
Summary: the best long tournament for the money $40 & $20
Content: Signed up for the 11am daily tourney at Sahara on Saturday April 14th. I had done the ones at Excalibur, $30 and Gold Coast $20 and wanted one with longer blinds and came to the right one based on the reviews on AVP. Played tight and aggressive and tried not to bluff till the end when I made the final two tables out of 65 entrants. Towards the end, the people making moves in the beginning got knocked out by the people who knew they were bluffing and it goes to show that you cannot be predictable. The big stack at my table doubled me up when my pocket 77s became a set on the flop and I did a little bit of acting on the side praying he wouldn't call. He had sunglasses on and a straw hat and I knew he could sense my nervousness and called me. After doubling me up, I think it put him on tilt because he lost his composure and was mumbling to himself about thinking I was weak--acting, thank you very much. Made it to final two and had to go all in when utg raised it one bet and I had K8 suited. He flipped them over and he had AK high and I was out in 17th place. This tournament took almost 3 hours and I was drained mentally and a little physically. My wife was pleased I lasted so long since this was my first b & m long one. Thanks to the players at AVP for recommending it. By the way, a dealer told me on the break, the best time to re-buy is as soon as you lose chips from the beginning. That way if you go all-in early you have some leverage. I wasn't sure and re-buyed (?) at the break. It didn't make much difference at that point unfortunately with escalating blinds and I just wasted it for $20.
