Summary: It was a long week for me in vegas as i arrived to vegas on 2/14 with a nice bankroll, a schedule of tournaments i wanted to play, and too many friends coming to town for the overhyped parties for me to be able to concentrate on nothing but poker for the next week.
Content: First off i must say that i knew vegas was about to get crazy for allstar weekend, but i never was prepared for what transpired over that weekend. With my masterplan in effect i head to the wynn thurs morning to play in there noon $330 tournament.First time at the Wynn and overall i really liked the room , very classy place, the tournament structure was pretty player friendly , only 43 runners but overall was a well run tournament, lasted about 3 hours when my pocket kings got cracked by KQ , of course im re raised all in by the big blind after a standard raise from middle postion, i call and i think im in good shape untill he gets QQ on the turn and river, and i bust out, gotta love the pokergods.I planned on playing there friday $550 but end up partying all night with friends and dont get in till 7am , im sure you know what happens next,I Sleep. When i do awake i am starting to get a bad feeling about being able to keep up with my tournament schedule , so i decide that im going to concentrate more on cash games then tournaments , except for the sat noon $550 at the Venetian.so i head to the Venetian friday afternoon for some 2-5 nl.It was also my first time here, and i must say it was pretty impressive room , actually my knees got weak as i entered it for the first time.WOW. I ended up putting in a 8 hour session and ended the night being up $1200, competetion was below average with alot of people buying in for 2 to 3 hundred, which i thought was unusal in a 2/5 nl game with 1000 max, but it made my stack look huge, being that i always buy in for the max. With that being said i ended up being out all night again and almost missed the noon $550 ,in hind sight i shouldnt of played but entered anyway, still drunk from the night b4, It had about 100 runners and was one of the best tournaments ive played in awhile,The only problem was my i played like a donkey and was put out early, so i headed back to my room for some sleep, but i was coming back for some more 2/5 later that afternoon.I arrive back after dinner and see the usual suspects from the night b4 at the 2/5 nl.My mouth was watering.I buy in for the max sit for another 8 hour session and end up leaving around 1am up about $850.There were some better players here on saturday but still mostly players that were fairly new to live poker, and i tried to take full advantage of this.Sunday around 1pm i make way back to the venetian,Jump in the 2/5 game and im just on fire , was catching monster hands for the first 5 hours , and im winning evry race, im up 2000 in the first 5 hours , and then just went cold gave about 500 back and decide its time to call it a night up 1500 over a 7 hour session.Game was really juicy this day and alot more money on the table with almost everyone that sat down buying in for the max, this is part of the reason when i felt my cards go cold it was best for me to leave because at anytime i could loose it all, plus there was alot better play here on sunday.I went out sunday night and drank so much i blacked out ,I think we had a wild one sunday night .Which brings me to monday , i head back to the Venetian for the 2/5nl at about 3pm ,i guess it just wasnt my day as i couldnt win a race to save my life, the play was average here on this day , i just couldnt win a hand and ended up dumping about 2000 in to the game in about 4 hours, so i called it a day. I did end up winning almost 1500 back that night at the rio on this holdem showdown table game, one of the props bet is 30 to 1 that you catch pocket AA , which i had a 10 bet on and hit pocket aces 3 times in a hour, not to mention alot of other winning hands, So tuesday i just chilled out ate good and counted my winnings as i was on the redeye back to atlanta.Overall i ended the trip up over 2000 , after tournament fees and hotel. And although i didnt play as many tourneys as i wanted the cash games treated me well and had a blast hanging with alot friends i dont get to see alot, but i think i did well considering the circumstances,as you can see that im just posting now it was a long week for me and i am just now fully recooperated from allstar week 2007.The Venetian is my new favorite poker room in vegas, and i will be back in may for the Mayweather vs De la hoya , so i cant wait to get back to the V. sorry the report is so long , but then again thats how my trip was.
