Trip Report
6 days of low limit poker, I am the fish
Date: 12/24/06
Player: mrboo2
For Rooms: Caesars Palace,Flamingo,Green Valley Ranch,Venetian,
Summary: Played 4-8 limit at Venetian and Green Valley Ranch. The sharks came out and attacked me with their aggressive style and I had to switch to 2-4.
Content: Just returned from a 6 day poker marathon. Played at Green Valley Ranch and it was the usual grizzled locals who were grinding it out at the 2-4 and 4-8 tables. I noticed that 4-8 is a lot more aggressive than 2-4, and it brought me out of my comfort zone. After dropping too much money to the sharks, I switched down to 3-6 at Caesar's Palace and made a little money. Then I went to the Venetian and played 4-8 again and the competition was too tough. I was playing at 7:00 AM in the morning against poker dealers on their day off and they took all my money. I switched down to 2-4 and won a little bit back.
Went over to Flamingo and played the 2-4 limit with half kill. Didn't catch cards and lost about $100. Two guys on the table hit high hand jackpots, 4 queens and a straight flush and they each won a bonus of $122.
I did hit a royal flush...although not at the poker table. I went to Ellis Island to eat their barbecue and played a ten cent video poker machine and won $400.
Do not recommend 4-8 limit at Green Valley because the competition is a little stiff. Venetian is tough too for 4-8, but if you play 2-4 limit on the weekends, there are plenty of tourists and fish. Flamingo is too cold, it is right next to the door and the cold wind blows in. My favorite place is Caesar's Palace because it's a secluded room and nice and quiet so you can think and concentrate. Venetian is an open room in the casino and it does get noisy. I ordered the strawberry julius (quite good) and they also serve Fiji bottled water. Venetian waitresses are really buxom; I think the gals have to have a boob job in order to get hired there.
