Green Valley locals and MGM loud music
Date: 11/28/06
Player: mrboo2
For Rooms: Green Valley Ranch,MGM Grand,

Summary: Played again at Green Valley and lost to the locals as usual. They were too tough for me. Played at MGM for the first time and it was ok, but music was too loud. Thanksgiving had a lot of tourists, but they were pretty good.

Content: The new poker room at Green Valley is a vast improvement over the old room. I played 4-8 limit and lost a few hundred. I played at MGM for the first time and it was very nice though, but the music at the bar is way too loud. The 3-6 game is beatable but if you play 4-8, the competition gets stiffer.

Going to Venetian in December and will see what that is like. I think the key to winning at poker is knowing when to get up and walk away, whether you are losing or winning. I was up over $200 the first night at Green Valley but got grounded down over the next 2 nights until I was down $480 by the last night. I played 10 hours straight Saturday night until 6:00 AM Sunday morning, then had to drive back to Los Angeles which took 7 hours from all the Thanksgiving weekenders returning home. I could go on and on about bad beats and people sucking me out, but the key is to not play when you are very tired or bet a lot when you are about to leave. I did this several times and it cost me dearly.
