Trip with my brother 9/28-10/1
Date: 10/07/06
Player: pokerfiend
For Rooms: Mandalay Bay,Paris,

Summary: Mostly 2-4 limit with first experience playing 1-2 no-limit at Mandalay Bay

Content: Travelled to Vegas on a business trip 9/28-10/1 and met up with my younger brother there. We had a nice room in the Four Seasons. We played most evenings in the Mandalay Bay poker room and enjoyed some good games of low limit 2-4 Hold-Em there. I liked the poker room and thought it was well-managed with good dealers, a nice mix of tourists and locals, and good bonuses for high hands. I managed to collect $272 for quad deuces and saw two other high hands get paid out at my tables-- $500 for a 10-high straight heart flush and $373 for quad sixes to some other players. Came close to the diamond royal flush but could not catch it on the river. Played 1-2 no limit the last night and managed to find a soft loose table where I was able to parlay two hundred into $750 in two hours after flopping trips and quads in 4 of my first 8 hands. Got paid off nicely when I turned an ace after a ragged flop with two spades and got reraised by a loose player with nothing and was just chasing a flush. Competition at the no limit table was actually softer and looser than the limit tables I played.

Wasn't able to make any of the Mandalay Bay poker room tournaments because of meetings but did play one early afternoon tournament in the Paris poker room. Went fairly deep into the tournament before I went card dead and got blinded out. Ended up going out with 10-3 off suit being forced to play in the big blind. Liked the Paris room and the mostly tournament structure there. Thought the area in the middle of the casino was a bit noisy, but the blonde servers in their waitress outfits were striking and pretty hot. Just getting to see them was worth the trip over there.

Had a great time and look forward to playing some of the other rooms on my next trip. Finished up a couple hundred bucks for the trip. Would have done better if I hadn't played any slots or blackjack.
