Vacation at the Wynn
Date: 09/29/06
Player: can2call
For Rooms: Caesars Palace,MGM Grand,Monte Carlo,Venetian,Wynn,

Summary: Vegas poker is more profitable and entertainng than online poker!

Content: First day we headed over to Caesars noon tournament. Nice room and tournament. Busted out after the break and opened a 1/2 NL table. I was excited about trying NL cash games and quickly found myself up $300. The game was a mix of players, mostly tourists. I was generally surprised how cheap it was to see a flop (a lot of limping!).

Played at MGM that evening. Too loud for me but my husband enjoyed the sit n go tournaments. The staff seemed fine and drink service fair. Crowd seemed younger and drunker. :)

The next day we had to meet some friends at the Monte Carlo. The brewery was a good spot to eat and drink. The poker room seemed very relaxed and I liked the feel. Some minor complaints from the young guys about no red bull but have a beer instead. The guy on my right hit the quad 8 jackpot and the guy on my left the straight flush jackpot. No love to the player in the middle but I still came out $200 ahead. They were allowing a man to sit next to me but he was not playing. His friend would show him every hand as he played. I found this odd but kept my mouth shut.

We hit the Venetian mainly because we had reservations at Delmonicos. The food and poker were very nice. I did read on this site about the vanilla air freshener and yes it is strong. If I had to whiff that for six days I wouldn't be happy, but for one day no problem.

The poker room was great. As we sat down we noticed Johnny Chan shooting a commercial or something..cool. Of course my husband didn't know who Johnny Chan was...ouch. Anyway the table was full of locals. I enjoy the "experienced" locals versus the young "I know what you have" locals. Anyone notice that the young guys insist on doing their best Negreanu by insisting on what you have?

Moved tables to a group of salesmen...cha ching. Easy money, up $180. Had to leave for the Delmonicos reservation. Luckily I made enough to cover the meal.

I saved my discusion of the Wynn for last. Loved it. Great poker room, sportsbook, casino, pool, spa, etc. When you do finally sleep in vegas the Wynn beds are awesome! The poker room rate is only $129 during the week. Enough of the sales pitch and on with the poker...

I played the $300 noon tournament and liked that there were only 30 players. Busted out 11th to 2-4 o , I guess $300 doesn't protect you from crazy people. I played 1/3 NL most of the trip and made money easily. The types of players really varied throughout the day. At one time I was sitting with 5 other ladies making us the Oprah table. Later in the day I was with drunken youth handing their money away. There is an upcoming freeroll event for the Wynn and I think a lot of locals were clocking hours.

I didn't like the $3 chips used in the 1/3 game but the Patron served at the table more than made up for that minor irritation. I ate several times using my comps and felt like it was a good deal.

Made more than enough money to have a first class vacation. Good luck to all and thanks for the posts by others!
