4 Nights, 5 Rooms
Date: 08/11/06
Player: Hey Chief
For Rooms: Caesars Palace,Hilton,Mirage,Orleans,Red Rock,

Summary: Donks giveth and taketh away...

Content: Went from 8/5-8/9. This is my second trip report. I was staying at The Orleans, and as before used it as my base; it is a good, nuts and bolts poker room. Other rooms:

Ceasars Palace: Played in the Noon tourney. They have a separate tournament room with higher ceilings for television cameras and lighting equipment. Played well but busted out 27th out of 140. Only the top 10 paid. THIS IS THE BEST TOURNEY IN THE CITY. You get 4000 chips for $130 and the blinds escalate every 40 minutes, so I was there for 4 3/4 hours. I did not play any cash games in the seperate cash game room. Food and drinks were frequently offered. I'm gay so I don't care how big the tits were on the waitresses. Staff highly competent and the ambiance of the room in total was like an exclusive gentleman's club.

Hilton: I totally agree with the editor of this site. Average-Average-Average: But I won and tripled up in the 1-2 No limit game when 2 donks called all-in when I had top two pair with no flush and no str8 on the board. I would go back if I was there waiting for my buddy to finish his tennis lesson. It had a more living room feel. Staff pleasant. Drink service average.

Red Rock: Gorgeous room and facility. Cocktail service not as frequent as it could be. HOWEVER, I am quiet, do not drink, don't talk a lot at the tables, and obviously I am not the type to EVER have a problem with a dealer, but there was a royal cunt named Dora who at point gesticulated wildly at me. When I asked her what was wrong, she snarled "Push me those chips, I can't reach that far". I responded all she need do is speak to me, that I had not taken American Sign Language. Even before that, she dealt as though she could not wait to get each hand over with and as if we were an annoyance and burden.

Regrettably I went with another friend who only plays 2/4 limit so it was donkey heaven and I lost...I wonder if Dora Dumb put me on tilt.

The management of the room was quite good; but someone needs to tell Dora we are CUSTOMERS.

Mirage: Went to play in the Plaza $35 sit n go but they only run until 5 pm so I headed over to The Mirage since I heard the room was really nice. I did not like it. The room is claustrophobic was low ceilings and seemed to be jam packed with too many people. A local loud drunk was calling and raising everything and winning in limit, so I signed up for a $70 sit n go. I probably played some of the best poker of my life and knocked out many players including some preening 20 something str8 stud who was hitting on the only woman at our table not realizing she was pushing 50, had badly dyed hair and a lot of work done. He was wearing a t-shirt which said -- are you ready for this -- WANNA GO HALFSIES ON MAKIN A BABY? I am happy to say I busted this fool. Unfortunately after offering a chop of $250 for myself and the second chip leader -- we'll call him "Blubbo" [who wanted to chop], the guy in a VERY distant third whined "I wanna try to win". Instead of working to knock out the guy in 3rd, Blubbo reraised me and with the 20 minute structure we eventually came to a showdown which I lost. The guy in 3rd was actually quite gracious and said "Dude, you worked hard -- you are a GOOD poker player"...I would have preferred the $420 first place, but I had to settle for knowing I did well.

The staff was accommodating, moving me immediately from the local drunk and the dealers were smooth and professional.

Orleans: Although I reviewed this in my trip report of March 2006, the dealers and staff are really helpful, the waitresses come by frequently and my only real complaint is the smoke which wafts into the room.

Look for my next report in October on the rooms I plan on visiting then: Fitzgeralds, Venetian and Aladdin.
