Tourneys & 2/4

Player: GERMY ROGERS
For Rooms: Excalibur (Live),Gold Coast,Riviera,Sahara,

Summary: Good poker and great people over four days in Sin City!

Content: First, a big thanks and shout out to AVP and all of its readers and posters!

Played a few tournaments and some limit 7/5-7/9.

I stayed a couple of days at the Hilton and ran over to the 7PM tourney at the Sahara. I took the monorail (easy but a little over priced) and made it in short order. They seated about 7 or 8 tables and there was pretty solid play. Unlimted rebuys the first hour allowed some loose players to stick around (but not for long) and I was pleased to make it past the first break. I busted a guy heads up calling his "all-in" bluff. The table paused, I took a moment to feel him out and then made my move. The table was impressed and complimented me on my read. What a rush!

Got busted out later on by a female dealer who came with a pack of Nicorette gum, an i-pod, continuous vodka & cranberries...and the thing that scared me most, a seat cushion! She was holding pocket fours against my A-9. I caught an ace on the river but that gave her the straight. No one saw it immediately, including the dealer but her girlfriend (also an off-duty dealer I think) screamed it out.

Next day hit up the 1PM at the Riviera. Small room right on the casino floor. They barely had enough players for two tables but it was some decent play from a varied group of folks. I made it to the "final" table but was first out when a kid moved all-in on me while I was holding pocket Kings. I called (duh) and guess what...he was holding Aces. Kind of stinks as he was not that strong a player. Caught lots of cards the first table but things dried up on the 2nd aside from the Kings. Had fun tho'...

Played some Roulette, came back with the "free" drinks in my veins and played lousy 2/4. Don't player tired and don't play tipsy kids...

No poker on Friday as I moved over to Rio and socialized.

Hit the 10AM $22 buy-in at the Gold Coast and was wait listed!? Lots of locals show up for this so come early. Got embarrased early on by having my 5 high straight busted by a seven high (I had an ace). That sucked.

Played hours of two 2/4 that afternoon at Excalibur. Not as bad a room as you would think. Dealers were very friendly and the drinks came quickly enough. Some decent play and I even made some money! Even better than that, I got complimented on my play more than once during the few days I was there. I guess I am getting better and people were respecting my raises. It feels good when people look just a little scared when you decide to play hand.

I would have played all night but I had a dinner date with one of the most beautiful women in Vegas...but staying at that table sure was on my mind.

Stopped by the Stardust afternoon tourney...lots of crazy locals. Go just for the free show.

Have fun and play well!
