First Vegas poker trip. Played Tournaments at Stardust and Golden Nugget. Took a 1st and a 4th. Played a lot of 3/6 and 4/8. Loved the Wynn!!! Great room, nicely run, busy but friendly. Played Binions for the nalstalgia, old room, a lot of young punks who cry too much! Stardust is an old room with a good tournament at 1000 am m/t/w ($45, no re-buys), mixed bag of talent. Their limit games are full of seniors that are regulars. This little old lady was betting and I called her final bet while telling her that I caught the straight, she quickly pulled her bet back, I just let it go, got a good laugh for my 1 bet. What I didn't like about the Stardust tourney was that they kept pushing for us to chop once we went to 4 (the money). We were downtown and played a lot at The Golden Nugget. Enjoyed my time there, played their tournament the last night and made the money (4th). Next time I go I will play a lot more poker and try out many more rooms. I want to say two things. 1st, thank you to all who posted because that is how I felt comfortable enough to play for the 1st time. Second, if you are playing low limit, 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, don't cry if someone calls with nothing and catches on the river, IT'S CHEAP AND THEY WILL DO IT. The way you look when you do that is not worth the money. Just have fun!!! |
