Spring Break '06---Poker 2/4, 4/8 style....
Date: 03/20/06
Player: GUPrinceChaz
For Rooms: Binion's,Mandalay Bay,Plaza,Rio,
Summary: Came down to Vegas for Spring Break with three buddies....I played poker each day for a minimum of 8 hours and then we went partying at night...Yeah, they thought I was nuts.
Content: I was staying at the Plaza for the first four nights of my six night trip, so I played there a couple or three times...The 2/4 game was a good time with a mixture of locals and tourists..The level of play wasn't very high, as there was a lot of "no fold-em hold-em," so you just had to pick your spots. With that being said, the other players were fun to play with and the dealers were very friendly...I was able to probably book between $200-300 during my time there....Service was also great as the waitresses kept the drinks coming.....
I wanted to play at the birth place of poker so I made a trip over to Binions...The 2/4 game was similar to that of the Plaza; mixture of locals and tourists...Dealers were very talkative, and the service was also adequate...I was able to book around $150 during my session, by just picking my spots and taking advantage of players who play too many hands....Definately got goosebumps as I walked by the pictures of all the previous WSOP winners...
As soon as I walked into the poker room at Mandlay Bay I was impressed with the aesthetics...Room was elegant and laid out well....The tables were very big and the seats were very comfortable...I played with what seemed to be some guys who were in town for business and were pretty solid 4/8 players...The highlight of my poker trip was hitting the Quad Ace Bonus for $356!!!....I was also able to pull down another $50 during the session...The dealers were obviously experienced and the poker room management was professional...No qualms about the service either...
The room at the Rio contained almost all tourists, many of them were younger than the crowd I had previously played with...This made for a very loose and aggressive 4/8 game that was a lot of fun....The dealers definately added to the good mood that was held by everyone at the table...I tightened up my play and scored some big pots...Ended being up around $150...The NCAA Tournament was going on, so I also enjoyed the many T.V.'s that were viewable... The drink girls here were my favorite with their quick service and they were by far the most attractive!!!....
Overall, a very great poker experience.....THANK YOU VEGAS!!!
