Late night 4-8 action at Green Valley Feb 10-12
Date: 02/12/06
Player: mrboo2
For Rooms: Green Valley Ranch,

Summary: Drunk people and players who are steaming are the best opponents.

Content: Just returned from a weekend trip with my fiancee to Green Valley Ranch. Arrived around 10:30 PM and started playing at the 2-4 limit table at 11:00 PM. I played tight and conservative. I was the only non-local on the table. There were 4 girls who sat down and began to drink heavily. After about an hour they were all drunk, obnoxious, and not playing well. On one hand I had A-10 offsuit, and the flop came K,J,Q. The drunk girls all started raising me because I think each of them made some sort of pair. Anyway, I kept betting and they continued to chat away and drink like fish, oblivious to my possible straight. After I beat them, they all shut up, thank goodness and figured that they should start paying attention. Made about $70 and decided to quit around 4:00 AM.

Woke up at 7:30 and went down to play again, but only the no limit and 4-8 table was open, so I played video poker for the morning. In the afternoon they opened up a 2-4 table, and I continued winning. On one hand I had A-Q club, and on the flop two more clubs and a Queen appears. The guy sitting next to me had raised before the flop, so I put him on a pocket something, plus I had the top pair and a nut flush draw. We went head to head on each round because we raised each other to the cap each time. On the river, I hit my last club and we raised each other 4-5 times before he finally called. He was holding pocket queens for a set, and I had the nut flush. He lost nearly his entire $100 buy-in on that one hand. He was steaming after that and proceeded to lose another $100 in a few hands.

In the evening, after 4 hours of losing $80 on the 2-4 table, I move to the 4-8 table. There were 4 guys on the opposite end who were playing crazy...they never checked, only bet or raise. Anyway, I played tight and picked up pocket aces, queens, and rocked them. On one hand I had pocket deuces and flopped another deuced for a set. A pair of eights showed up later for a full boat and those young crazy dudes raised me all around. When I threw down the deuces they couldn't believe it. Won about $200 for the entire trip. Green Valley is nice because it's very relaxing and laid back there. There are a lot of nice players, and I suggest playing on tables with drunk people or aggressive young punks who want to give you their money.
