Flamingo Kills Me, Caesar's Cures Me
Date: 02/06/06
Player: bear5434
For Rooms: Caesars Palace,Flamingo,
Summary: 2/4 frustrates, 3/6 reloads wallet
Content: Stayed at Flamingo on comped room 1-29 thru 2-1. My one goal, poker-wise (other than winning of course), was to check out the new digs at Caesars but more on that in a moment.
Played 2 sessions at Flamingo at the $2/$4 table and it was an exercise in frustration. I like the room ok and it seems well managed and the drinks come pretty quick but my first session was one beat after another...some bad beats, others simply misplays by yours truly. Basically it was about 7 to the flop which makes for a crazy game. My good ahnds just weren't holding up and my marginal hands that I will play from time to time hurt too. First session table was very serious...I lost my entire $100 buy-in.
Returned later that night for session two and bought in again for $100. Table was still 6-7 to each flop and this time I was able to tread water for quite some time staying even and fighting through some tough beats. Table was much friendlier and more relaxed and fun and I walked away down $40...which was the very first time I have had two consecutive losing sessions in Vegas.
Tuesday it was time to check out Caesars new room and I was not disappointed. In fact, even though my expectations were very high from what I read here, I think my high expectations were exceeded. I love this room. Great table spacing, pretty well managed (I had one small issue getting my comps) and the players were mostly very cool. Add to that, I had a huge session playing $3/$6 with a full kill. My big hands were holding up in big pots and I laid a bad beat or two of my own (we all do sometimes) and I was generally able to avoid trouble when my hands didn't flop well. There were still 6-7 to a flop but there seemed to be a much larger number of "fit or fold" players so quite aften after the flop you would be heads up or three-way. Drinks came quick, massages could be had for $2 per minute and you could order food directly at the table. Good stuff. A nine hour session there allowed me to walk out up $320. Atmosphere alone makes me want to play Caesars every chance I get.
Great trip and I cannot wiat until my next journey to Vegas in March.
