New In Vegas
Date: 12/21/05
Player: ixoni

Summary: Low limit at Excalibur and MGM Dec 12 - 16.

Content: In Vegas for a business training trip and was planning poker nightly. Unfortunately by the time I arrived I was down with a full blown nasty cold/flu/virus or whatever. Jacked up on cold medicine and OJ I manged to play twice. This was also my first time playing in a real casino instead of on the Internet or with friends.

Wedneday morning I joined a 2/4 limit game at Excalibur where the most of the players appeared to know each other and must have been regulars. For the most part they were very friendly and one guy espcially gave me some advice on "real" table play and ettiquette as I was a bit nervous keeping up with the mechanics of the table play. Anyway, I played pretty tight and walked away +40 after a couple hours. That felt pretty good as it was my first real "brick and mortar" game. The play was looser than I had imagined it would be.

Thursday evening I went to the MGM Grand, what a sweet poker room! I again started with 100.00 and after about two hours left with +69 after taking a large pot with trip 10s beating out my callers trip 7s. Here again the dealer and players were pretty friendly and helpful. I tried to fold my big blind (fogetting my position) and the dealer stopped me. The flop gave me two pair and I won that hand. What a break although I would not expect that at higher limit tables.

Overall I was happy with my modest success and it does appear that if you can win in low limit on the Internet you can ceratianly do it in Vegas.
