Just returned from a weekend in Vegas during which I played lots of 3/6 limit hold 'em at Harrah's, the Aladdin and MGM Grand.
Aladdin was the worst of the three. A too loud lounge is directly above the room which guarantees lots of thumping house music directly overhead during night time play. Plus I had a guy directly on my right who NEVER could shut up with his play-by-play commentary. All this coupled with slow play due to manual shuffling made this the least fun place.
MGM is flashy and sexy, but the table I was on was so tight the vast majority of pots that anyone won were very small. The marble I've seen people complain about with regard to chips gave me no trouble with stacks, but nearly launched a card off the table twice when it reached the marble surface. Lots of rail birds as well. Play felt too much like work after a couple of hours and I left dead even.
Harrah's, the first place I ever played, was by far the most fun. Good smoke-free room, decent pots to be had for limit play, very competent and fun dealers and some friendly, but not overblown chat between players. Had a great time here and walked away with decent profit (to make up for losses at Aladdin).
All-in-all a very fun trip.
