Las Vegas Trip Report

Just got back from a 3 day trip to Vegas. Stayed almost exclusively at MGM but played a little at Bellagio as well. First night I cashed in MGM's evening tourney ($125 buy in, 30-50 people usually). It was one of those nights when everything clicks. Both good cards and good luck, when you bluff they fall for it, etc. Of course, I was an idiot when we got to the money (top 4) and everyone wanted to chop, I decided to go ahead and play it out. I ended up getting fourth (figures) and getting $380. Not bad except that if I had chopped, I would have gotten around $800. Brilliant on my part. . .

Next day playing in the morning tourney($65 with 80+ people). I get JJ in big blind, 4-5 limpers to me. I raise three times the BB, get one caller and the button re-raises me a total of 6 times the big blind. He'd looked loose so I go over the top all-in. BOTH the caller and he call me. I turn my jacks over expecting to see a bigger pocket pair. What do I see? Caller shows A6 off and raiser shows ATc. I'm thinking wow this is a gift. What happens? Runner runner flush to end my tourney. Oh I was pissed but smiled, shook his hand (couldn't talk or look at him) but tried to leave gracefully. . .

Next morning, played in the tourney again. I get KK in the BB, couple of limpers and SB raises to 4 times the BB. I re-raise to a total of 12 times the BB. He calls. Flop comes T,T,3 rainbow. He checks. I go all-in. He calls and flips over his JTs. Needless to say I lost. It was over and I just commented on what an "interesting" call that was for 2/3 his stack with JT. His response? "Well, you know, they were suited". I almost cried right there. I would have handled it better if he just said he had a feeling or something. He actually felt like that justified his call. Again, smiled, had a small stroke, and tried to remain dignified (while cussing under my breath to myself).

Played cash games at MGM and Bellagio (mostly 4-8). Bellagio definitely had better players but I played better so was up $100 or so. MGM had the spectrum but I just got sucked into the "stay around for everything" mentality so was down there. Both rooms are nice, just different. MGM has the music blasting and nice scenery (Studio 54 attracts some nice looking women), more spread out. Bellagio is a little tightly packed but classy with higher limit games. Take your pick I like them both.

Well, I'll shut up for now. I like reading everyone elses stories so just wanted to add mine. Going back in 6 weeks and staying at Wynn. We'll see how that goes. . .
