50th Birthday Poker Tour
Date: 08/13/05
Player: Mailguy55
Summary: Went to Vegas for 3 days from 9-12 Aug for 50th birthday. My brother and I played at various rooms.
Content: All in all this was a good playing experience.
A few comments for each room...
Imperial Palace - I liked this room a lot, good comps, and a nice quiet location. Played 2-4 hold em, game had a lot of action with about 75 percent of the players seeing the flop. Tough to bluff anyone out. I won one hand head to head with A Q high against his A 7. Played total of 5 hours and won about $20. Good cocktail service.
Alladin - played in a 4-8 game. Nice location, good room. Lot of tight players in this game. I played real tight for a hour and after that, I would reraise once or twice before the flop and most everyone folded. Lost about $60 total. Acceptable cocktail service.
Flamingo - I played a total of 10 hours at this room, mostly because it was close to the Barbary Coast where I stayed. During the day and afternoon, this was a real tight game with little action, few of the older players would nod off at times. Late night, the game got a whole lot looser with average pots between $60-80. When some of the NL players would bust out, they would come to the 2-4 table to try and get healthy, making a lot more action. Bad cocktail service.
El Cortez - What can you say about this room except that it had the most colorful players I have seen yet. This was a 2-4 game with $20 buy in. No WSOP wannabes here. Pretty much all regulars and locals with the exception of my brother and I. Won about $20 after 3 hours of play. Poker room consisted of 1 table in the corner. They allowed smoking at this table. Excellent cocktail service. First drink I tipped $5 and asked for little stronger drinks and after that could not keep up with the cocktail waitress.
