Spent 6 plus days in Vegas, the first 3 at the Pallazzo, then moved to Treasure Island and finished up at the Mirage. Played piagow my first couple of days and actually hit the Straight Flush and Royal Flush bonus at T. I. (I must admit that the beds at T. I. were better than the Palazzo!)
I had heard about the Mirage poker room from AVP and figured that Monday morning I would try their room (since I was going to check into the Mirage later on after checking out from T. I.).
Got the last seat at 3-6 and was seated immediatly! Discovered on the 2nd hand 1 of the reasons why they, the Mirage, had a full 3/6 game going AT 10 A.M.. 2 guys were going heads up and the board read... 5 spades, 8 clubs, 10 hearts, king of diamonds and 10 of clubs. Seat 2 and 5 were only 2 players left after the river. Seat 2 bets and seat 5 calls. Seat 5 then ask seat 2 "do you have a 10?" to which seat responds by showing his 10. Seat 5 says "YES" and shows his pocket black aces. Then it hit me...he got his aces cracked for $150.00.It happened twice more before I left at 12 noon. I made $10.00 for the session.
I must say that most of the players at my 3/6 table were locals which surprised me at first but after listening to these guys I realized that they realized that this was 1 of the better rooms to play in in the morning (cracked aces from 9 to 1 p.m.)! High hands around the clock. Flopped Royal was at $7,400.00!
The service by the waitresses was excellent. I don't drink aclohol and I watch my suger but I had the best dam Strawberry Julius..followed by an Orange Julius ... in the free world.
The next morning I called the poker room from
my room (at the Mirage). Spoke to "Ken" who took my name and room number and said that he would call me when the 3-6 game began. 20 minutes later the call came and, over the phone, I asked for seat 5 or 6. When I got to the room seat 6 was reserved for Arthur (thats me). Spent 5 hours and 2 more Julius and then heading out for my last 6 hours in Vegas. Lost 80 bucks!
Classy room, top notch dealers, great beverage service and every kind of high hand promo that you could think of. I'll be back in March!
