For the umpteenth time I returned to the Bellagio , the scene of so many of my poker crimes against myself. The good news, my money was still there and eager to be joined by new friends. Being a donkey first class with clusters I aimed to please. I still prefer the Bellagio, both the hotel and the poker room to the others. The place does have a modicum of class; a very rare commodity anywhere but especially in LV. I played my usual $4-8 limit game for 3 plus days with the usual results. I was about even. About 2 AM the game broke up. I had napped to play all night so , for the first time ever, I joined a $1-2 nl game. I won a few pots and was up about $600. On the turn I hit a set of sevens. The board showed a queen and a 3 and a pair of fours after the river. I bet and the villain raised. I feel I had no choice but call. Of course he had pocket Queens. Would you go out? Of course I then proceeded to go broke on 2 more second bests. Not a glorious intro to my NL play. Any advice would be appreciated. It is a much more exciting game. Wish I could afford it. |
