Trip Report Annual weeklong trip Date: 08/03/08 Player: franker31 For Rooms: Binion's,Golden Nugget,Red Rock,Treasure Island (TI), Summary: Had a great time as usual for 11 straight years. Only 2 days of poker due to grinding in St. Louis yearlong and getting my craps fix in but reporting poker is the reason for this site which I dearly love. Content: Got into Las Vegas about 3pm & checked in to Main Street Station. Settled in and the 5 guys in group check out Vinnie Favorito comedy show @ O'sheas 7:30pm. For those of you who love uncensored raw humor this is your guy. I don't go to Vegas for shows unless I'm w/ my wife but have seen him 3x & will many times to come. 3 of the group hadn't seen him b4 & had headaches and stomach aches from laughing so hard. Coupons are all over town. We 5 saw him for $150. Met w/ fellow AVPers psand & photoc @ 777 bar &restaurant@ MSS. Had a great time talkin poker & learning the local poker scene from them along w/ the brews & food. Hope the craps stays kind to you Pete! Thanks for meeting Rich and all the work you do on AVP.Onto poker...Played TI Headhunter bounty wed. 11am. 33 people.Love the structure although takes awhile. Bubbled 5th when me(button) and other short stack(small blind) clashed my A9 into his A10(as usual Paul). Went to desk & was asked how many bounties. Stated none & how I was a bottom feeder the whole way.LOL Met Chris the manager @ this time. Busy but friendly guy. Buy in for $400 and sit down @1-3 NL cash game. 7 handed & I overplay my KQs to AK in my 2nd hand. Guess I was disappointed in tourney or didn't believe her. Lost~$350 on it when K on flop shows w/ back & forth betting & raising. She played it well while i was the donkey. Found out later it was Jessica(formerly of TI). Nice hand Jess! Never recovered no big hands & drawn out on a couple of times including the ODave. Nice meeting you sir! Played the same cash game Sun. again @ ~2pm. Greeted @ desk by Danette politely(as usual) & get placed quickly next to a local on my left that who looks like a young Paul Sorvino named John. Great playin next to you. What a great time! Hope stud makes a comeback for you. Lost about ~90 total w/ 1 big hand costing me. Flopped 8s9s open ender w/ 3 in $60 preflop pot all 3 stay in w/ $40 post flop bet for preflop raiser. Ad6d7ds Turn the backdoor str8 flush draw(Js). $180 pot preflop raiser checks I go all in for remaining. Lady in sb thinks for few minutes and calls w KK due to only having $190 left. PF raiser folds AKo. Blank 4h hits the river. She drags. Like my play not result. Oh well. Played ~ 12 hrs cash w/bad result but didn't go my way after bonehead play formerly mentioned. Bad timing I guess. Dealers were great. Rick is my fave, Super nice since I met him last year. Talked to Troy @ desk. Great talkin to you since I notice you are very quiet. Thanks! Will be back next June hopefully w/ my poker bud acetenguy who I ironically met on this forum even though we live in St.Louis.(by the way your avp name and your hand suck! That hand costs me sooooo much money every time I play it or go against it.) Downtown poker was dead during the day till about 2pm(binions and Golden Nugget). Went to Red Rock but didn't play there. Lots of craps and sports betting but what a nice room. Really picks up in the afternoon. Will try there next year too along w/ TI. Good luck to you all & hope to see you @ the tables! |
