So many rooms, so little time

Summary: My first vegas trip was 4 days and about 15 poker rooms long. I am a low limit player and living in Canada I have easy access to online poker. Here's what I learned.

Content: I played 2/4, 3/6 and 4/8. I'll admit to a bit of "sore loser" syndrome with my comments but still, my biggest disappointments were Ceasars, Wynn and Bellagio in that order.
Refreshments service was so bad at Ceasars that I actually experienced what it is like to be lost in the desert without water.
At Wynn the problem was noise. "Check", "call" and "raise" could be heard at any moment but I could never tell who was saying it. What was needed was a strong dealer to keep the game focused.
Bellagios is just too crowded. I did enjoy watching the WPT event with players like Negraneau, Ulliot, Gavin Smith, Johnny Chan mingling with us spectators.

I highly recommend the downtown poker rooms, especially Binions, where you can just feel the history. The Golden Nugget has the best tables
and chairs.

At the Flamingo I doubled $100 in about 45 minutes of 2/4 but the casino was too modern for my taste as I've always been interested in the Bugsy Seigel/ Virginia Hill story.

I also played at (the) Sahara, Riviera, Palms, Stratosphere (they moved their Poker room from the Sports Book to a nicer location next to Roxy's Diner), Orleans, Mirage, and El Cortez.

When I got tired and a little bit drunk, I lost money. Sober and fresh, I won money. That should tell me something!

Next time I would...Play the $40 Sahara tourney at 10 am every day. I would definitely recommend the Stratosphere for cash games. This site told me the games there were soft and they sure were. I think (since the night-life is not a big thing on my mind) I might try to stay on an Eastern time zone schedule. Play a cash game for a couple of hours, before the Shahara tourney. then do some sightseeing in the afternoon. I'd play some early evening poker and then get a good night's sleep.

I made good use of the daily bus pass ($5 for 24hrs) but next time I'll rent a car.

The poker rooms were all different and all enjoyable. Even my criticism's of Ceasars, Wynn and Bellagio are minor. But here's a thought. Why don't they put out a big 'self-serve' bucket of bottled water if they are not going to have enough servers?

Viva Las Vegas poker...it was great fun!
