Quick weekend full of action
Date: 11/13/07
Player: Clem2754
For Rooms: Treasure Island (TI),Venetian,Wynn,

Summary: Pot limit omaha, no limit cash games, bounty tournament- action weekend.

Content: This one will be a short one considering I only was in town for a little over 48 hours.

I got into town on Friday night. It was one of the first times I actually got in early which is odd coming from the east to the west. I went over to TI to plaay some 1/3 NL. It was about 11pm on a Friday, and I was lucky enough to get a seat without a wait. I ended up playing only about 2 hours here before moving onto the Venetian. Ended up down for the session, mostly because of how I played AK against a loose player when I flopped top pair. I also turned a flush and got rivered when a fourth diamond came on the river when the other player had the ace of diamonds.

I ended up not playing all that long at the Venetian either. I lost three times when flopping a set to players chasing flushes, after I reraised each time on the flop. My favorite was the guy chasing the 9 high flush and getting there on the river. I wss glad that I was only playing the 1/2 NL game. I usually play 2/5 NL at the Venetian.

After the first night I was in the hole.

On Saturday I went over to TI because I could watch college football while playing 1/3 NL. I ended up playing a good 7 hours and was up for the session. Mpitts was at the table (Mostly watching the Michigan/MSU game). Over the last hour it was tough because the table was short and it seemed as if the players avoided me. I really didn't play any big pots but was grinding back from my Friday loss. After eating dinner at Isla, I played in the 7pm TI tournament on Saturday night. Good tournament, full of fish. You can rebuy which is a good thing. I actually got knocked out early when I pushed with AK and got called by a player who had 45o The flop was A,5,2. THe money went in after the flopas the player was playing loose, and he hit runner, runner spade to catch a flush. I bought back in. I built my stack nicely and got involved in a large hand when I picked up J's. As it turned out, the money went in pre-flop with three players involved (AK, QQ, JJ). A queen flopped giving Cindy (Local lurker) the set and allowing her to win the hand. I was a shorter stack at that point and got knocked out with 11 players remaining.
I jumped over to the 3/6 TI mixed game (Full of AVPers- LV Michael, Motocycle John, mpitts, Cindy) and played that for the rest of the night. A good 5 hours at least. I highly recommend the game as it is a lot of fun. We played 6 games (Badugi, 2/7 Triple Draw, Razz, St HL, Omaha HL, double flop omaha). I actually played very well and ended up alomst doubling my buy-in. Badugi was treating me very well, plus Steve was paying me off quite a bit.

On Sunday, I played at the Wynn for about 6 hours while football was on. I had a great seat and was able to watch about 6 NFL games at once, and Pats/Colts game. I decided to play 1/3 NL and buy-in deep. I had everyone at the table covered other than one guy who had about $1,800. About two hours in the two big stacks finally tangled and it pulled me out of my hole from Friday night. I picked up pocket Q in the big blind. My big stack friend raised pre-flop to either 18/21. I re-raised to $60 out of the small blind. He called. The flop came 10-8-6 with two diamonds. I bet $75, and he re-raised to about $200. He was playing aggressive and using his stack to push players out of pots. I pushed all-in (calling his $125, and adding another $350 on top). He thought about it for a few moments and called. The turn was a Q of diamonds. Even though it gave me a set, I didn't like the third diamond. The river was a king. My trips hold up and I get the pot. He claims he had two pair, but never showed. I grind out a little bit more before moving over to TI to play the bounty tourny.
I highly recommend the bounty tournament at TI. It is very fun. I really wanted to have a last longer bet with Yappy, but he got eliminated early when he got sucked out on by someone pushing with 6/7o and hitting some type of runner/runner for the win. I twice picked up pocket aces and elimnated three players with those A's. I also eliminate another player prior to the final table starting, so I was in the positive by $75. As we went on break I realized that they were actually spreading a 1/1 pot limit omaha game. That game had my interest, espcially after seeing Yappy winning a $672 pot against mpitts where Yappy had a straight flush against mpitts' Ace high flush. Don't worry by the time I got the game Yappy was felted by mpitts, but the table was full. I ended up busting out 4th (Bubble) when I pushed with A7 and ran into AK. King flopped and I was done.
I bought in for $300 at the pot limit game, and I played for about 3 hours before it broke around 2pm. I had 5 hands over $100, and I won 4. The biggest hand was talked about in mpitts' report when I flopped a set of K's against his wrap q,j,10,9 (Board was k,q,3). It was a good double up. He could afford it as he was up big, and I gave about half of it back when I had 5's full of 8's, and he had A's full of 5's. I ended up almost $400 for this pot limit session, which got me over the hump of Friday's losses.

I must say a big thanks to the TI staff and dealers. I was quite impressed how well the dealers did with the pot limit omaha game. You do not see this game spread at all live in Vegas, and they did a very good job.

It was 2am, and I had to fly to Oakland in the am for work. OK, so the report was not that short, but it will be shorter than the next one I write. I should be back in December for 4-6 days prior to the Christmas holidays.
