Hilton Player Room Review

Good Room, But Avoid the 5 and 6 seats!
09/16/05, Player: Ian

Total Rating: 3.60

Room Quality Rating: 4
Room Quality Description: I play here alot because it's the only casino I can walk to from my apartment. Considering how new the place is, the staff does an excellent job. The atmosphere is always friendly and professional. Like most poker rooms, The Hilton takes $4 max. from every pot, but one of those dollars is a jackpot drop, so the rake is technically lower than what you'll find at other places on the strip. If you're over 6 feet tall, make sure you avoid sitting in the 5 or 6 seats (the ones across from the dealer) because the tables have these sharp platforms underneath that you will constantly bang your knees again. I have two swollen kneecaps to prove it. Unfortunately, The Hilton hasn't had any luck getting middle limit games going there so the biggest game you're likely to find is 1/2 no limit and 4/8 half kill limit hold 'em. Also, I feel compelled to write that this is the only poker room where I've seen a prostitute enter the room, pick up a customer, and leave the table with him. Make what you will of that.

Competition Rating: 4
Competition Description: The opposition is generally bad, but not any worse than what you'll find in most any low-limit game in Vegas. Most of the players there are between 25-50, but you don't typically see the stereotypical old rocks or young WPT wannabees.

Dealer Rating: 4
Dealer Description: Considering how new the room is, I think the dealers do a very good job. They manage to have friendly banter with the players without making a lot of mistakes. The auto-shufflers keep the games moving quickly. One dealer had some trouble handling an obnoxious player, but it's hard to fault someone for that.

Cocktail Rating: 3
Cocktail Description: The waitresses are generally middle-aged (like the Hilton's clientelle) and friendly. There is not always a waitress in the room, but they stop by frequently enough that you never have to wait too long for service.

Management Rating: 4
Management Description: They seemed friendly, helpful, and generally knowledgeable. My only complaint is that they seem to keep the comp program a secret.

Comps Rating: 2
Comps Description: They have a comp program, but it's not advertised so it seems like most people don't benefit from it. You have to go out of your way to find the floor and give her your card.
