Hilton Player Room Review
Mediocre room with Pathetic bonuses

Room Quality Rating: 3
Room Quality Description: Mediocre is the best way to describe this room. I scored it average instead of below average since the dealer said that new chairs were coming. The metal back recycled buffet chairs have got to go. In general, the room is plain and basic. There are some plasmas in the corners, and there is a nice credenza table with water, but that is about it. The tables have auto shufflers, and there are some nice tournament style tables outside the room, which is a nice touch. Usually, any room with an electronic list tracking board (akin to the Wynn), would get a 4 or a 5, but the crew barely knew how to work it, and aside from standing right in front of it, there is not a really good way to monitor your progress (no pagers or contact technology). It is a non-smoking room, which I am not a fan of, and furthermore, since the room is in the sportsbook, Cell phones are a big no no. You have to walk out of the entire sportsbook area to make a call. I ngeneral, the room quality is amongst the most boring and mediocre I have ever seen.
Competition Rating: 2
Competition Description: I was there opening night for about three hours, and had to play supertight just to keep up (which I hate doing). Hardcore old schools with a keen knowledge of the game and fancy plays. A serious bunch, made up almost entirely of older locals. Lots of money to be made.......elsewhere.
Dealer Rating: 2
Dealer Description: Although pretty mixed, none really stood our as being that great. Even with the auto-shufflers, there were at least one or two that were amazingly slow. The younger ones were okay, but still misread the board at least twice while I was there. With time, I'm sure it will improve. Opening night had a VERY overstaffed room. Personality wise, the women and men were quiet and mundane, going along with the overall room, I guess. In general, they were friendly, though most looked pretty bored.
Cocktail Rating: 5
Cocktail Description: My guess is that they expected a much busier opening night, as the cocktail waitress seemed to never leave the room. A drink was brought literally within 2 minutes of ordering it. This is really the ONLY section where Hilton trumps everyone else.
Management Rating: 2
Management Description: This is really not fair, as it was their opening night, but it is all I have to work with. The managerment definately should have spent some time in poker rooms around town, as the lack of any experience really shines through here. I can forgive now knowing how to update the list, since it is new technology, but I cannot forgive putting names on the list when there are open seats. Also, the microphone kept giving lots of loud ear piercing feedback, and yet the management kept using it. It is not their fault that the mic was bad, but to keep using it was just moronic.
Comps Rating: 1
Comps Description: I am not a fan of taking money from the pot for jackpots and high hands, but if they insist on doing it, at least make it a bonus that people get every once and a while. Hilton only gived a jackpot for ROYALS! Nothing else. 4 of a kind? Nothing. Straight flush? Nothing. Aces full getting beaten? Nope. I'm sorry, but if you're taking a dollar out of every pot, then at least have the courtesy to give a bonus to more then just a once in a lifetime hand. $1 per hour on your card is a good standard comp. Very annoying is the fact that you have to go to the front desk area to sign up for a card. They can't do it at the room or a closer location. Overall, I was very dissapointed in pretty much every aspect of the LV Hilton poker room, and I will certainly not be returning.
