Gold Coast Player Room Review
Gold Coast: A Good Value and a Great Place to Play
07/07/05, Player: StevenFernandez
Total Rating: 3.70
Room Quality Rating: 3
Room Quality Description: The poker "room" at the Gold Coast is actually just a roped off section of the casino, next to the buffet. They only have 8-10 tables but there is plenty of room between them. The tables are older, but they are all equiped with auto shufflers.
Competition Rating: 4
Competition Description: The table was about half local-half tourist on the 4th of July, but on the 6th it was all locals (70 avg age), and me. They all knew what they were doing, but were very predicatable and risk averse. I find it easier to beat these tables than the tables with complete begginers, because of the old timers predictability.
Dealer Rating: 4
Dealer Description: The dealers were either fresh out of dealing school or had been dealing for decades. They were all quick and I saw very few misdeals. They were all pleasant and seemed happy to be there.
Cocktail Rating: 4
Cocktail Description: The service was very fast, because the bar was only a few feet away. The waitresses were average looking, in their thirties (probably knockouts ten years ago).
Management Rating: 5
Management Description: This small room was managed very well. The managers were very friendly and remembered your name even if you had only played there one time.
Comps Rating: 4
Comps Description: The comps go $1.25 for the first 4 fours, then $.50 every additional hour (there is a cap on how much you can earn per day). The comp$ go further here because eveything in the casino is at bargain prices. The lunch buffet is $8 and it had everything you would find at the Alladin buffet. There was an automated board displaying the high hand jackpots, four of a kind and str8 flushes. A guy at my table cashed in $25 gor 4 kings, but 4 3's was maxed out at $599, as well as several others. When the high hand is maxed out, you only have to use one of your hole cards.
