Excalibur (Electronic) Player Room Review
11pm tourney
11/28/08, Player: CosmoKman
Total Rating: 3.55
Room Quality Rating: 4
Room Quality Description: The tables are nice and there is pretty good spacing. Kind of noisy but not too bad.
Competition Rating: 4
Competition Description: A lot of players were definately beginners and had no clue what they were doing. There were a couple locals however most of them were calling stations and chasing any type of hand they could get. You have to be careful because generally they will call you down with just about any two cards. One guy even raised UTG with K9s!! A guy with AA in MP made a strong re raise, and the K9 went all in. Of course the flop gave him all spades and the fellow with AA did not have a spade so he got knocked out. You have to be ready to take bad beats but in the long run you can do well. I was able to succesfully trap on 4 different occasions and double up each time. If you can get good cards you will be able to make things happen. It is a standard vegas tourney in that the blinds go up every 15 minutes so it pretty much turns into a shove fest after the 1st hour. Once the shove fest happens you have to win coin flips. I had the chip lead then went card dead for a while so started getting close to the chip average. My AK got lucky vs 88 and then I made it to the final 2 and chopped with the other guy. It was a fun tourney and took under 2 hours to turn $60 into almost $300.
Dealer Rating: 3
Dealer Description: No mistakes but the machines can be slow. A number of times i folded and it took the computer about 5 seconds to catch up. I have a mixed opinion about the machines but honestly I didn't see anymore bad beats happen than I normally see in a normal card room. I wouldn't play here regularly but it was fun to try out the tourney and offers something unique. That being said I generally prefer the table interaction and the real chips/cards. I will definately go back to play the tourneys however I will leave the cash games to actual card rooms.
Cocktail Rating: 2
Cocktail Description: It took over 30 minutes just to get a waitress in there and another 15 minutes to actually get the drinks. I understand times are rough but I think having to wait 45 mins is kind of ridiculous.
Management Rating: 4
Management Description: They are very friendly, helpful and patient. A few of the players had no clue how to use the machines but they walk around the room all the time ready to answer questions
Comps Rating: 3
Comps Description: no clue, I just played the 11pm tourney.
