Stardust Player Room Review
3-6, All Over The Place
04/29/05, Player: sherwood_foster
Total Rating: 3.20
Room Quality Rating: 3
Room Quality Description: The poker room is located just off the famous Stardust Sports Book. The room has 8-10 tables, of which the most being played during our mid-week stay was 4. Tables are in moderate condition and the overall decor is very basic.
Competition Rating: 3
Competition Description: Since this was our first trip to Vegas for poker we had little with which to compare the competition, although we had played at the Monte Carlo earlier in the trip. However, the players and tables at the Stardust were all over the map. There were some tight-passive regulars, some tight-aggressive tourists who knew what they were doing, some Stardust slot players taking a break, and plenty of inexperienced players just throwing their money away. There were games that were extraordinarily passive, with folks buying the pot pre-flop with a raise (!), while at another table I watched the action capped (5 bets) pre-flop with 7 players! It was crazy. While I didn't make a killing, the games seemed very profitable if you could push your good hands with the maniacs. There were at least one or two players who would raise to the river and either fold or show bizarre hands like 4-7o with nothing on the board! It was very eduational. It was very educational for us as we expected most casino players to be very good.
Dealer Rating: 4
Dealer Description: These guys were great, having fun, keeping the deal moving. No problems with the deals.
Cocktail Rating: 3
Cocktail Description: The cocktails came as regularly as one would want and the waitresses were pleasant. While I enjoy drinks as much as anybody, I don't really care about cocktails while playing.
Management Rating: 4
Management Description: No problems getting in a game or getting chips. They run a M-Tu-W $40 tournament as well and there were no problems getting into that game. It was decently run.
Comps Rating: 3
Comps Description: They have a bad beat jackpot that was very large and was last claimed over ten years ago! They also will track your time and you can get into a Thursday tournament after a specific number of hours playing earlier in the week. No food comps as far as I could tell, but I didn't ask.
