Room Quality Rating: 5
Room Quality Description: If you like, great music, plush surroundings, new tables, decent lighting, tvs in all the right places, this is the room for you. Seeing few famous name players playing and hanging with everyone was nice. The vibe throughout was all about enjoying the experience. Loved the tables, and the chairs are as comfy as you could want. Having a little bar right there was also nice for those waiting for a table. Every other casino (excuse the generalization) makes you stand like a lost sheep outside the rail getting bored. Here, you can sit at the bar and chat with other reprobates! :-)
Simply put, I can't wait to get back. Best room in Vegas, knocks the Venetian into a cocked hat.
My only (and very slight) complaint, is that at the 1/2 tables, you do get cigarette smoke coming in from the corridor, but it's not too bad.
Competition Rating: 5
Competition Description: Played from 6pm to about 9:45 on a Thursday (not long) and was stunned at how soft it was. Calling Stations a go-go. Folk had no idea about pot odds and would try to push you off the pot with insanely small raises. Play your absolute basic ABC poker, add a little creativity, and you'll do well. All the basic tells are there, & all the basic mistakes are there. Both to your advantage.
Dealer Rating: 5
Dealer Description: Young, smart, professional, and affable. The chat was engaging, but the cards came first, and I didn't see any mistakes, nor hear about them from friends playing at other tables.
Cocktail Rating: 4
Cocktail Description: Young, pretty, quick. I think that's pretty much perfection from a cocktail waitress! I can't comment on the cocktail quality as I only had a few bottled beers - hence the "4"
Management Rating: 5
Management Description: The girl at the desk took me to the table, got me chips, explained the house straddle rules, was switched on, professional and polite. The floor personnel were regularly engaging with people they knew and were close by if we had needed them - in this case we didn't, but it was nice to see more professional, & smiling, faces ready to deal with whatever came along. A very well run room.
On the topic of the Hard Rock straddle; it seemed very popular. If the button wants to straddle (2 x BB) the first round action passes over him, and he acts after the BB, unless there has been a raise and re-raise before him. This powerful position tool was largely misplayed, but can be far more powerful than people were giving it credit for.
Comps Rating: 3
Comps Description: They seemed pretty much inline with most other rooms. The Royal Flush is progressive.
