Hooters Player Room Review
What a dump!
02/01/08, Player: Ian
Total Rating: 1.75
Room Quality Rating: 1
Room Quality Description: The poker room, like the rest of the casino, is pretty crappy. The poker room is divided into a smoking and non-smoking section, but I've only seen games running in the smoking section the 3 times I've been dragged there. The chairs are uncomfortable, and I've never seen more than 1 game running. The rake is the standard 10% to $4. There's a $1 jackpot drop that goes toward a weekly freeroll (10 hours played to qualify), making the drop +EV for locals and -EV for tourists.
Hooters also has the worst parking garage of any casino in town. The spaces are crammed together so tight that you can hardly open your door without hitting the car next to you. I imagine this results in a lot of damaged vehicles. The garage elevators are scary. I tried holding them open with my hand for a couple that was trying to get in, but the doors closed on my hand and the elevator started going up!
Competition Rating: 3
Competition Description: The games are average for the limits played. There's a combination of tight, chain-smoking locals clocking hours for the freeroll and low-budget, chain-smoking tourists throwing away their money to the locals.
Dealer Rating: 2
Dealer Description: The dealers were below average, but not terrible. One of them would actually stop dealing in the middle of a down to have a conversation with one of the locals. Another was extremely slow. In fairness, they did have a couple strong dealers.
Cocktail Rating: 3
Cocktail Description: The cocktail waitresses come around reasonably quickly, but they aren't super fast either. Despite being "Hooters girls," they aren't any more or less attractive than cocktail waitresses in other casinos.
Management Rating: 1
Management Description: I can't give a good rating to a poker manager who opts to allow smoking in the poker room. The only floor person I have seen on duty is more or less friendly, but he also gives the impression that he'd much rather be someplace else.
Comps Rating: 2
Comps Description: By signing up for a player's card they give you: $10 for an hour of poker, a $25 matchplay in the pit, a free show ticket, and a "$100 free slot play" offer that is a lot worse than it sounds. I don't know of any regular poker comps that they offer.
