Great tourneys, tight cash games

Room Quality Rating: 5
Room Quality Description: The room is HUGE, with 30+ tables for cash games and a separate tournament area with probably 30+ more tables. Room is done up in style, tables are nice, cash game tables have auto-shufflers, chairs are comfy, plenty of space between tables, and the room is completely separated from the casino, but the sportsbook, pits, and restrooms are easily accessible. Nice set-up overall, equal to Venetian or Wynn for cash games, with a better tourney set-up. Tourneys were very well organized and well run. I played the PLO and Omaha8 tourneys, and enjoyed them. The various NLHE tourneys seemed to have good turnout and decent structures. Frankly, I think this room's strength is its tourneys, with solid but not exceptional cash games.

Competition Description: My 1/2 NLHE cash game table was on the tight side, and was not nearly as easy to make money as at Venetian. Tourneys had typical mix of donkeys and rocks. Players seemed to be older on average than at Venetian.

Dealer Rating: 4
Dealer Description: Dealers were solid overall, but not particularly noteworthy from a personality standpoint. Tourney dealers handled PLO and Omaha8 very well.

Cocktail Rating: 4
Cocktail Description: Not one to rate on looks. Drink service was generally fast and friendly, but top shelf stuff was not available as it is at Venetian or Wynn.

Management Rating: 4
Management Description: Player lists were computerized, management opened new tables as quickly as they could with 8+ people on a list. Chip runners did a good job. Tourney directors did a generally good job, except for one TD who let a player play a hand after answering his phone (and after previously lecturing everyone that doing so meant a hand was automatically dead). Overall, management was solid, but it felt a bit "corporate", not unfriendly, but not overly friendly.

Comps Rating: 3
Comps Description: Swipe in at front desk for comps with Harrahs Total Rewards card; not sure of hourly rate (but likely $1/hr. or less). Players are in on the Harrahs badbeat megajackpot, and there were small high hand jackpots offered (but amounts offered seemed much less than at other rooms).
