El Cortez Player Room Review Walked into the El Cortez at 6am 12/21/07, Player: Lester Total Rating: 2.75 Room Quality Rating: 2 Room Quality Description: I was surprised to see an autoshuffler at the EC. I suppose with the rake at a max of $2.50 they have to hammer out as many hands per hour as possible. Table overall was OK but did not have built-in cupholders. Odd to see people using chip trays at the table. I suppose if a fight breaks out it is easier to run away if your chips are in trays already. Though slot machines are on three sides of the poker area the noise was not bad Competition Rating: 4 Competition Description: When I rolled in an hour or so before sunrise it looked like the table of ten had been there all night. After 15 minutes I got a seat and most hands I played had 6-7 limping in for a buck. At least one player will call you down to the river. On preflop raised pots it is possible to bluff one or two opponents off of a hand. Dealer Rating: 3 Dealer Description: Let's face it, if these EC dealers were good or excellent they would not be working at the EC. Cocktail Rating: 3 Cocktail Description: Probably stopped by 2-3 times an hour and my screwdriver was fine. Management Rating: 3 Management Description: The day before my pre-sunrise visit I had stopped by after lunch and watched two tables of ten play. I was approached and asked if I would like to get on the list. I passed that day but did come back the next. Mgt was friendly and I did not see any action required by mgt at the table I was playing. Comps Rating: 3 Comps Description: I had heard about a food comp but left after 3 hrs to go play an 11am tournament at the Golden Nugget. Back to El Cortez Room Review |
