Tuscany Player Room Review
Lotta love for this little room (tourny only)

Room Quality Rating: 4
Room Quality Description: OK - Ceasar's Palace it ain't. There's only 6 available tables and most of the time only 5 are used...but the place has some heart. Not too cramped, unless you're pressed up against the rail, so there's typically enough room to pull up a wheel-table for some extra space for drinks (or a book - I like to track my hands).
The tournaments run at 4:00AM (neverplayed in that one, but I hear it's almost all casino folks just ending their shift), 10:00AM (only played this one once) and then at 7:00PM (this is the one I typically play).
Oh, one last thing - the bar in the room is closed. They need to either tear the damn thing out or open it up.
Competition Rating: 3
Competition Description: Would put it at 2.5, honestly. The tournaments are pretty crazy because of the unlimited re-buys (at only $20.00); that can induce some hyper-agressive play. I've been at a couple tables where at least one person was willing to go all-in on virtually ANY paint, consequently re-buying about 5 or 6 times...once he also made the final table chop, so it can pay off. I've also been at tables where the players were fairly tight. I actually prefer the hyper-aggressive tables - brings a ton of money onto the table and a tight-aggressive play can build a good stack before the break.
Most of the time there are 3 or 4 people at the table who are decent players, with perhaps ONE of them being a strong player - 3 more players who understand the game well enough to play a good hand and fold a bad one...and then 3 to 4 players who seemingly are in their first-ever tournament.
One odd note - I've played in two tournaments where they've put 11 to a table. Most of the 7:00PM games have between 40 and 60 players, and with the re-buys the payouts can be VERY dramatic, considering it's essentially a 32.00 buy-in. The last one I was at paid 1100.00 for 1st (although I've never seen one actually played out - every time I've been around at the pay-out, it's been a chop).
Dealer Rating: 4
Dealer Description: Perhaps I'm being generous here, but I value personality in a dealer, and these folks are courteous and fun, without being too chummy with the regulars.
I rarely see a mucked deal (less than one per tourney), and they do a good job of policing crap like exposed hands or misrepresenting hands.
Cocktail Rating: 3
Cocktail Description: Pretty regular service, and extra cherries if you ask. If you're there for eye-candy, you're in the wrong casino (on a side-note, I was there a couple weeks back when the Tuscany hosted a "swingers convention"...now THAT provided some interesting people-watching!).
Management Rating: 5
Management Description: Every time I've been there, Kevin has been the room manager (I'm sure he sleeps, 'cause he always looks pretty fresh, but I sure don't know when he does it!). The guy is friendly enough, and always pleasant, but the thing I appreciate most is that he'll make a call with conviction and won't be bossed around by any of the regular players - I've seen him make some calls on big hands that pissed some people off, but I've never seen him make a bad call.
Comps Rating: 3
Comps Description: No idea - never asked.
