Sahara Player Room Review
Great low buy-in Tourney
08/16/07, Player: curtom
Total Rating: 3.20
Room Quality Rating: 3
Room Quality Description: The room itself could stand a bit of fixing up. The people and the dealers were good. I would have to say that the big guy, Chris, really needs to take care of himself. I honestly thought he was going to drop dead several times. He was breathing heavily and in extremely poor health. Aside from that the tournaments were well run. The room could use some new tables with automatic dealers to help move the game along as well. Bottom line? Spend some money and you will get even more of a turn out. The average tournament had about 60-70 people at both 11:00a.m. and 7p.m. To my surprise there were 60 players for the 11p.m. tourney too. Still a great bargain for the money at $62 bucks. Just take a trip on the Deuce for 2 bucks and you get dropped of right there. I was staying at the Venetian. I posted a seperate report on there tourneys
Competition Rating: 3
Competition Description: If you enjoy internet poker then you will enjoy the Sahara. A lot of younger inexperienced players come here to cut there teeth. It's your job to teach them how the game is played. If you have any kind of game yourself that is. A lot of ALL-IN before the flop early in tournaments. A major no - no to good players. Also players will take a draw early in tournaments for there entire stack, another major no no to a skilled player, but I just waited for a hand and was able to send 2 people to the rail before the second level was over. I did not make any final tables. I bubbled out in my second tourney and decided that was it for me and moved on to get serious at the Venetian. If your learning how to play tournaments then this is a good training ground. Low pressure and lots of rookies with a few locals mixed in. Mike was the poker room manager and did a great job keeping things moving. They also have a 2-4 game that is going constantly.
Dealer Rating: 3
Dealer Description: The only reason I don't rate the dealers as "good" is because of Chris. The poor guy is really in bad shape. You almost feel bad for him that he has to move at all. I suggest taking some time to get his life together and take better care of himself. If he isn't weighing in at over 500lbs then hell has ice water. You gotta do better Chris. We are pulling for you.
Cocktail Rating: 4
Cocktail Description: No raving beauties here but they are serviceable and nice.
Management Rating: 4
Management Description: Room was well run.
Comps Rating: 3
Comps Description: I didn't bother getting a card so I really cannot comment.
