Tropicana Player Room Review No fun, with apologies to Iggy. 12/26/06, Player: JohnDz Total Rating: 1.45 Room Quality Rating: 1 Room Quality Description: discards from the convention center. The only reason I played here was my companions wanted to see the two exhibits at the Trop. Don't make that mistake, avoid this room at all costs. Competition Rating: 4 Competition Description: Easy to insane, the play was unencmbered by the thought process. There was maybe one player who knew any basics. The two hands that I pushed, I got my money in as at least a 4-1 favorite, but still lost. Hate that, hate it. I had AA, reraised a good amount, and was put in by a K-J x who made his jacks...he even said (with only $25 more in front of him after putting me in) "I know you have me beat, but I'm gonna get lucky." Which he did with a runner runner jack high flush. I usually like this sort of lunacy as it can be profitable in the long term, but the room is so fugly and depressing I couldn't stand it. I was more fatigued from playing two hours here than I usually am after ten hours of hard NL games. Dealer Rating: 1 Dealer Description: Between the need to explain the rules to playerw who had no idea whqt the rules were, making the pots right, etc., a very slooooow game. This wasn't helped by a substantial language barrier, which sounds racist, but c'mon....I've played in a lot of cardrooms and am used to non-native English. Heck, I've managed a print shop in LA so am really used to this. The dealers alwo had no personality, which can be a plus. Cocktail Rating: 1 Cocktail Description: One drink server every 30 miuntes, and it took three tries to get a bottle of water. And it was actually hot when I got it, quite a feat in Vegas in late December. Management Rating: 1 Management Description: "No, I'm not even going to start a list for a limit game, no one will ever play it." Of course they won't, you don't offer it. Comps Rating: 1 Comps Description: I have no idea, but I'm going to assume it was in keeping with the rest of the room's quality status; Back to Tropicana Room Review |
