South Point Player Room Review Lots of locals, but relatively soft 11/20/06, Player: KngKonga Total Rating: 3.35 Room Quality Rating: 3 Room Quality Description: Only one 1/2NL table going on a Sunday Afternoon. Two other tables of limit holdem going. Room set into a corner lobby area before the escalators going up to the Theaters, but they made it their own with 6-7 flat panel TV's on the wall for the games. Competition Rating: 4 Competition Description: for the short 3 hour session, 6 of 9 at the table were locals who mainly knew each other or knew of each other. They were on first name basis with the dealers and waitress. However, dont let that scare you off. If you know you have game, then you can hang. They were mainly pretty soft and nobody went nuts with all-in preflops and such. Solid play overall, but very beatable. Since I wasnt a local, I knew they were cautious with me and I took advantage of that. I tangled with one non-local who flat called his flush draw to the river (not getting pot odds) and got it beating my trip K's, but you will see this all over the place, not only here. Although these locals were soft, but otherwise solid, they were very personable and enjoyed playing with them. Dealer Rating: 4 Dealer Description: no screw ups. no complexes. But only really had small talk wtih the locals. Cocktail Rating: 4 Cocktail Description: good service. nice outfits and good looking waitresses. Very good considering this place is not on the strip. Management Rating: 3 Management Description: Rate the management almost below average. Only reason I say this is because the main manager didnt care for non-locals. I didnt get that treatment, but another guy did. It was obvious and flat disrespectful. Maybe I missed something between the guy and the manager, but it wasnt right from my perspective.
