Room Quality Rating: 4
Room Quality Description: The room itself is basic and comfortable. Basic padded chairs, autoshufflers in two tables, and a nice vintage vibe. The condition of the room is fine, and expected. Parking is wonderful, as it is right next to the sportsbook entrance, which makes this probably the easiest to access poker room on the Strip. I give it a 4 instead of a 5 as they did away with smoking, unnecessarily, last April. Normally, this would not affect the rating too much, but this is probably the smokiest non-smoking room since the rail is close to the tables, and smoking is permitted outside the rail, so making everyone do the smoking jog between hands is really pointless. However, since it is so close, this means you can smoke without missing a hand, which is nice. Overall, it is a nice, comfortable, aethetically pleasing room.
Competition Rating: 1
Competition Description: A lot of older local players here. I have gotton to know quite a few of them, and if you stay for a while, you will get used to how they play. Some are pretty wild, but most are tight passive. Definately experienced, there were a lot of small pots, but when a wild kid sits down (which happened often), it became a lot more fun. A lot of casual conversation and friendly customers that know the game well.
Dealer Rating: 5
Dealer Description: Very fast efficient dealing staff. No mistakes during any session that was not a players fault. The dealers make it a point to get to know the regulars and also take care to see if a player is smoking, and wants to be dealt in. All dealers are older and experienced, which I prefer, and maintain a fast game, which I appreciate.
Cocktail Rating: 4
Cocktail Description: Orders were brought fairly quickly, and were always accurate. Most have been here a long time, and are very friendly. No problems here. Not the fastest, but nowhere near the slowest.
Management Rating: 4
Management Description: Management is nice and professional. Paper and pen, they run a good ship. One issue I had with management was when they were running three tables of 3/6, one with a Kill. When 100% of us agreed to change our regular 3/6 table to a Kill table, Jim said he couldn't do it since they already had one kill game going, and that would leave only one regular 3/6 table. I didn't understand this reasoning, as 100% of the players at my table wanted the kill. However, the management is friendly, and the open seats are closely monitered, so overally, I would give management a good rating.
Comps Rating: 4
Comps Description: They have a Bad Beat jackpot, which I am not a fan of, as it takes a dollar out of the pot, but since the rake is only $3 max, it makes up for it. Also, they have a freeroll tournament for those that play 15 hours from Wednesday at noon to Wednesday at noon. Tournament is on Thursday, and is very busy, as this room has a LOT of regulars. $5 coupon for food is given after a few hours of play. I like the tournament comp, and wish that more casinos would offer this type of comp for regular players. Overall, I will greatly miss the Stardust when it closes at the end of this year, and I recommend it to all.
