A recent article in the Las Vegas Review Journal (LVRJ) discusses an upstart organiztion called the Poker Players Alliance. The Poker Players Alliance is a Las Vegas based non-profit group that is trying to give poker a good name.
This seems like a pretty cool organization. Poker needs a positive image, especially as federal and state regulators wrestle with legislation that impacts the game. It looks like the Poker Players Alliance might be able to help shape this positive image, and perhaps give those regulators a reason to let us just play some poker.
According to the article, the organization was setup by Nevada gaming attorney Tony Cabot. I’m not sure exactly what role he plays in this organization, but having met Mr. Cabot a few times, and read several of his books and articles, I can safely say that his support is huge. Mr. Cabot is an authority on gaming law issues, particularly Internet gaming, and he knows how to pitch poker to regulators.
Check out the LVRJ article here. Also, you can visit the Poker Players Alliance website here. A full membership is only $20, and they even give you a cool supporter’s T-shirt. Sounds like a good deal to me.
