Summary: Green Valley Ranch, the classy Henderson casino, will open its new 11 table poker room on August 16th. This could be my new home.
Content: Green Valley Ranch (GVR) is a AAA Four Diamond Resort located in an upscale area of Henderson, NV – just a few minutes from the Las Vegas strip. Several months ago GVR closed an underperforming restaurant located near the sports book, and announced plans to open a poker room. Well, that time has almost arrived. GVR will open the doors to its new poker room on August 16, 2005.
The GVR poker room will have 11 tables. No tournaments are planned yet. Hand comps of $1 per hour will be offered on opening day, and within a few months an electronic comp system will be in place. The poker room will also eventually be tied into the Station casino poker jackpot (a huge progressive poker jackpot that is tied into every poker room owned by Station Casinos). The comps will be redeemable at the new GVR café, a new 24-hour eatery that I have heard is just awesome, although I haven’t yet tried it personally.
I used to live directly across the street from GVR, and it is probably a good thing that the GVR poker room wasn’t open then. I don’t live quite so close anymore, but GVR is still one of my favorite destinations. I’m really looking forward to this poker room, and I expect to log my fair share of hours there. All Vegas Poker will have a full review of the new Green Valley Ranch poker room when it opens.
