2005 World Series of Poker Begins Today!
The 2005 WSOP is being held at a new home, the Rio Hotel. It also expects to attract more players than any WSOP in history.

Date: 06/02/05
Room: Rio
Summary: The 2005 WSOP is being held at a new home, the Rio Hotel. It also expects to attract more players than any WSOP in history.

Content: From June 2 to July 15 Las Vegas will be hosting the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP). This year, the WSOP lasts longer than ever before. It also expects to attract more players than any WSOP in history.

Not only is the WSOP longer and larger than ever, most of the events are being held at a new home – the Rio Hotel. This is a big departure from the WSOP’s usual home, at Binion’s Horseshoe. Although most 2005 WSOP events will be held at the Rio Hotel owned by Harrah’s (which acquired rights to the WSOP last year), the last two days of the $10,000 buy-in main event will be held at Binion’s. This should help to tranquilize some of the die-hard WSOP fanatics that are outraged the event has moved to a new home.

Personally, I’m excited about the WSOP’s new home. I’m particularly interested to see how Harrah’s (and the Rio) handle this tournament, especially because the 2005 WSOP main event could attract more than 7,000 players. It will be a zoo. Let the games begin!
