Summary: This is a huge week for Las Vegas poker. On Wednesday the Bellagio opens its remodeled poker room, and later that night Wynn pulls back the curtain on the most expensive casino in Las Vegas.
Content: The main Bellagio poker room has been closed for the past few months. But, on Wednesday April 27th, at around 5:00 p.m., the Bellagio poker room will re-open to the public. The interior of the new Bellagio poker room has been completely redone. Ten new poker tables have been added, plus a new high-limit poker area has been constructed.
I have not yet personally seen the new Bellagio poker room, but one of my good friends has – and the word is that it is the nicest room he has ever seen in Vegas. Notice, he didn't limit his compliment to only “poker rooms” -- he said it is the nicest “room” of any type that he has ever seen in Las Vegas. That's quite a compliment. I'm very much looking forward to checking it out.
Then, at the stroke of midnight, only a few hours after the new Bellagio poker room re-opens, Steve Wynn will unveil to the public his new mega-resort. The Wynn Las Vegas is the most expensive hotel and casino ever built in Las Vegas. It is actually one of the most expensive hotels anywhere in the world, coming in at around $2.7 billion. Steve Wynn has always built the best poker rooms in Vegas (e.g., Mirage, Bellagio), so expectations for the poker room at his newest hotel couldn't be higher.
It will be interesting to see where the big game goes. Will the high stakes poker game stay at the remodeled Bellagio, or will it migrate to Wynn Las Vegas? We will know soon enough. One thing is for sure... it's a big week for Las Vegas poker.
