Tropicana Las Vegas Opens Low Limit Poker Room.
On April 6, 2005 the Tropicana hotel and casino jumped into the poker craze by opening 6 poker tables offering low limit Texas Hold'em, and No Limit Hold'em games.

Summary: On April 6, 2005 the Tropicana hotel and casino jumped into the poker craze by opening 6 poker tables offering low limit Texas Hold'em, and No Limit Hold'em games.

Content: What a comeback! Poker has never been bigger in Las Vegas than it is now. There are more hotels on the strip that have poker rooms than there are that do not.

The Tropicana Hotel and Casino at the South end of the strip is the latest casino to haul a few poker tables onto the casino floor and cash in on the poker craze. The Tropicana poker room officially opened this past Wednesday, April 6, 2005.

There are six poker tables at the Tropicana. The poker room is exclusively a low limit room. It is spreading 1-3 (spread limit) Texas Hold'em, plus a Baby No Limit game with $1/$2 blinds ($40 min / $100 max buy-in). The rake on these games is pretty steep at 10% / $4 max.

The poker area is non-smoking, and there are no tournaments offered (or planned).

My initial guess is that the Tropicana poker room will not be especially popular with tourists, except for those already staying at the Tropicana hotel. But, Tropicana hotel guests can now play downstairs if they don't feel like crossing the street to bigger and better card rooms.

AllVegasPoker.com will have pictures and a room review shortly. If you have already played at the Tropicana poker room, please submit a room review.
