Summary: The MGM poker room opened today, and it rocks! The MGM Grand poker room is a high-class facility with state of the art technology. And, by spreading poker games from $2/4 to $20/40 on up, it offers a juicy game for almost every possible poker player.
Content: The MGM Grand built one hip poker room! And believe me, I never expected to be calling a Las Vegas poker room 'hip'. I am impressed.
With its grand opening today at 12:00 noon, the MGM Grand poker room got off to a rock'n start. I stopped by the MGM poker room today in the afternoon shortly after it opened, and I stopped by once again later this evening. Let me tell you. This place is high class, and full of energy.
The atmosphere of the MGM poker room is contemporary and fashionable. Everything is brand new, and modern. The MGM poker room is what the Rio poker room could have (should have?) been. It has the energy and scenery of the Palms poker room, but the MGM poker room is contained in a first class facility – as opposed to a cramped closet converted to a poker room (which is basically what I think of the environment at the Palms poker room).
The MGM Grand poker room boasts more technology than any other poker room (currently open) in Las Vegas. There is a super hi-tech list management system, the walls are adorned with beautiful high definition (HD) plasma televisions, and every poker table is outfitted with a “control station” that is capable of doing everything from tracking player comps to paging cocktail waitresses to satisfy the needs of thirsty poker players.
I bumped into a few of my poker buddies during my visits to the MGM poker room, and they had nothing but positive things to say about the joint. This is coming from poker players (and professional poker dealers) that are familiar with every room in town. I know a poker room is good when these guys are impressed.
This place is going to be a success. I predict that the MGM poker room will be THE PLACE to play poker at the South end of The Strip. You can read my full review of the MGM poker room here, and if you have played at the room yourself, then please submit your own personal review for other visitors to read.
