Date: 01/31/05 Room: General News Summary: GVR, the upscale hotel/casino in Henderson, NV will likely open a poker room within the next few months. Content: The rumor mill is turning, and it's getting pretty loud. In the past few weeks I have heard a lot of talk about Green Valley Ranch opening a new poker room soon. The rumors are coming from players that frequent the Green Valley Ranch, as well as GVR employees. There is no formal announcement yet. However, from what I understand, the tentative plan is to remove the high-limit slot area (or at least consolidate it), and add a few poker tables. On a personal note, I visit Green Valley Ranch a lot! I live directly across the street from the hotel, and spend a lot of time at the sportsbook and restaurants. I really like the hotel, and I think the addition of a poker room is a logical choice. On my many trips to GVR, I never see any players in the high limit slot area, and this area consumes valuable real estate on the casino floor. I know there are a lot of local players (and probably a lot of guests that visit GVR) that would visit the poker room weekly. Of course, if the room does open, I'll probably have to shut down AllVegasPoker.com. I'll be spending waaaay too much time over there! |
