The World Series of Poker cash games will be raking at the Harrah's Entertainment standard of 10%/$5 max at the 2009 WSOP, set to start at the end of May.
This rake structure has been the standard at most Harrah's properties for quite a while now, but was not the policy of the WSOP Amazon room side games, until this year.
Last year, it was decided that time collection games would not reduce their time drop when the game was short handed, and this year, the 10%/$5 rake is expected to have little to no effect on the cash game demand.
Cash games held at the Rio will be raked at 10%/$5 max without a jackpot in the Amazon room, but will be raked at 10%/$5 max with a $1 jackpot in the permanent poker room, located adjacent to the Race and Sports Book.
The expected increase in the rake of the WSOP side games aligns the WSOP venue along with all other HET owned properties in Las Vegas.
Rio and Caesars Palace were the last two HET owned properties to fully convert to 10%/$5 max rake policy, several months ago. To date, Caesars is the only property in the HET chain to restrict poker players to 'well drinks only' in the poker room, despite the uniform raise in rake.
