Much like the Mirage did about a month ago, Treasure Island, in a major cost cutting manuever, has decided to cut 15 full time positions from its poker staff.
Before the announcement, TI employed 24 full time dealers. Now, 15 formerly full time dealers have been reduced to part time (extra board, as its known in the industry), and only 9 full time dealing positions are being kept.
The decision was announced to the dealers today by Richie Amalsitano, the Table Games Director, who oversees the poker room's staff.
The 9 dealers that are keeping their full time posts were able to due so based on seniority (corporate hire date).
The Mirage did a similar cost cutting maneuver about a month ago, with 20 formerly full time dealers being cut down to extra board.
Cutting a full time position to extra board comes with many disadvantages: significantly less hours scheduled (if any), no medical benefits, and no set schedule.
