Welcome to the poker mile. Five new poker rooms along the Las Vegas strip create a mile-long low limit poker player's dream. During the past six months, five hotels, all located next to one another on the Las Vegas Strip, have opened, re-opened, or expanded their poker rooms. All are within walking distance from one another, and all are located on the same side of the strip. From North to South: Harrah's, Imperial Palace, Flamingo, Bally's, and just last week, the Aladdin.
These new poker rooms are capitalizing on the poker explosion by catering primarily to low-limit players. Most of these poker rooms spread Texas Holdem games from 2/4 to 4/8, and most are also offering inexpensive daily tournaments and low minimum buy-in No Limit poker games – perfect games for first time or inexperienced brick and mortar players. The rooms along the Low Limit Poker Mile are not fancy like the Bellagio, and they don't have 20+ tables like the Excalibur – but what they do offer is easy access to a poker room for guests at any of these hotels.
This is the Golden Age of low limit poker in Las Vegas. There are more poker rooms in Las Vegas than ever, and the low limit poker mile offers Las Vegas visitors lots of great choices. Whether the poker mile survives depends on whether poker can maintain its popularity. The good news is that online poker isn't showing any signs of slowing down, and poker television shows are still getting good ratings. As long as new players are introduced to the game, and experienced players stay interested, the poker rooms along the Poker Mile should remain full.
