Summary: Green Valley Ranch opened its new poker room tonight. It’s a huge improvement over the old room. Not surprisingly, it reminds me a lot of the Red Rock poker room. Check out the new pictures.
Content: I stopped by the new Green Valley Ranch poker room tonight for a quick peek. This poker room looks sharp! It is a huge improvement over the old GVR poker room. The poker room was packed too. Most of the tables were rock'n and roll'n.
Here are my initial observations.
The entrance reminds me of the Red Rock poker room. They must have had a couple of those cool yellow light beams leftover from the Red Rock construction.
The layout of the poker room resembles a very long hallway, but it is deceptively wide and there is plenty of room between the tables.
Tables are first class. Auto shufflers at every table and wood racetracks with built in drink holders. Players can clock in to earn comps right at the table, and an LCD screen shows dealers each player’s name if the player is clocked in.
Management already seems much better. You might recall that I did not think very highly of the management at the old poker room. This was partially because of the physical limitations of the old room. In the new room, they put a huge podium at the entrance to the poker room. This makes it easy for new players to get seated. On opening night the podium was staffed by a friendly young woman who welcomed new players with a smile.
She did a great job explaining the games offered. When I asked her about min/max buy-ins for a new No Limit that she wasn’t sure about, she got on her radio and asked another manager for clarification. The quick answer was very much appreciated.
The poker room is very well lit. No dangling spotlights like the old room.
Close to 20 of the most beautiful high definition flat screen televisions you’ve ever seen.
I did not sit down at a table and play, but I can already tell this place is moving in the right direction. I'll stop by again soon for a full updated review.
In the meantime, please check out the new pictures on the Green Valley Ranch page.
