Paris Poker Room Now Offering Tournaments Only.
A bold move at Paris poker room; switching to a tournament focus. No more cash games?
Date: 07/21/06
Room: Paris
Summary: A bold move at Paris poker room; switching to a tournament focus. No more cash games?
Content: I received several e-mails recently concerning big changes at the Paris Las Vegas poker room. From what I gather, the Paris poker room is changing its focus to poker tournaments only; all day long.
The reports I received are slightly conflicting, and when I called to verify I couldn't get a straight answer. But from what I understand, it sounds like Paris will spread poker tournaments all day long, and Ballys will spread cash games.
One report stated that the Ballys tournaments will no longer be offered, but another report stated the opposite, so the exact details are still unclear.
The point is that Paris Las Vegas is making a serious commitment to poker tournaments, possibly at the expense of its cash games.
Also, one of the tipsters told me that Paris is building a brand new poker room by the sports book, and it may be ready as early as September. More details to come.
Below is the text from one of the e-mails I received. Also, on the right you will find scans of the full Paris tournament schedule, along with all the tournament details.
We are now running tournaments every two hours starting at 3:30 a.m. with the last tournament starting at 7:30 p.m. The rolling tournaments are no-limit, all starting with 1500 chips plus an optional add-on worth 500 more chips. The buy-ins start at 30 up to 60. Also a Pot Limit Omaha Tournament nightly at 7 p.m.
Bally's has their usual 60.00 11 am daily during the week and a weekend 11 am for 115.00 buy-in. The sports book will also offer rolling tournaments on Saturday and Sunday in the Bally's Sports Book starting at 9 am until 5pm. Buy-ins for the sports book tournaments will be 60-80.
Thanks very much to all the sources that provided this information.
Because of the conflicting reports, if you have any additional information about the Paris poker room, or if you can confirm 1) whether Paris will still offer cash games, or 2) whether Ballys will still offer its tournaments, I would appreciate an e-mail.
Finally, if you have news about any other poker room in Las Vegas, please send an e-mail to info@allvegaspoker.com. All sources are confidential.
