Harrah's Poker Room to Offer Daily Holdem Tournaments.
Beginning November 1st, 2004 Harrah's will offer daily No Limit Holdem poker tournaments with low buy-ins.
Date: 10/17/04
Room: Harrah's
Summary: Beginning November 1st, 2004 Harrah's will offer daily No Limit Holdem poker tournaments with low buy-ins.
Content: My sources (the Harrah's poker room manager) tell me that beginning November 1, 2004 Harrah's will offer daily poker tournaments. The tournaments are expected to be morning tourneys (10 am), and have low cost buy-in's of around $30 plus a $10 add-on.
The actual poker tournament schedule is not confirmed because the final schedule is pending approval from management, but the odds are looking good that these tournaments will kick off on November 1st. Harrah's poker players should expect to see a printed schedule the first week in November.
If these daily low buy-in tournaments are approved I think they will be an awesome addition to the Vegas poker tournament landscape. As it stands, there aren't very many good poker tournaments that take place each morning (only the Luxor freeze-out comes to mind), so Harrah's can really nail this particular market. Because the buy-in's are expected to be so low, these tournaments will be sort of a loss-leader for the Harrah's poker room. Harrah's is hoping that a lot of people will show up, and as they bust out of the tournaments, the cash games will begin (which is really where a brick and mortar poker room makes it money -- cash games, not tournaments).
