More Information About New Poker Room at TI Las Vegas.
The upcoming poker room at Treasure Island is mixing things up. Word is that TI may offer some relatively unusual poker variations. Summary: The upcoming poker room at Treasure Island is mixing things up. Word is that TI may offer some relatively unusual poker variations. For example, when was the last time you played “Badugi” in a Las Vegas card room? Also, the rake on all NL Hold’em games at TI will be timed, which is extremely rare for NL games in Vegas.

Content: Several insiders with knowledge of the upcoming TI poker room emailed last week to mention that Treasure Island plans to offer some relatively rare poker games. Some of these special offerings include:

Badugi - 4-card, triple-draw, lowball (A234 with 4 different suits is the
best hand, and ace is always low).

Omaha High Only - offered in $4 & $8 Limit and Pot Limit with $1 & $2 Blinds.

Crazy Pineapple - $4 & $8 Limit (That is "crazy" as in discarding the 3rd
card after the flop - NOT high-low).

Tangerine Mixer - $3 & $6 Limit mixed game including Hold'em, Omaha High, and Crazy Pineapple.

TI really hopes that games like Tangerine Mixer and Crazy Pineapple will become regular offerings as they bring more action, fun, and excitement to the players.

Personally, I love Crazy Pineapple. It might be my favorite poker game. But unfortunately it is almost impossible to find it regularly in Las Vegas card rooms. The demand from players just has not been there. Perhaps TI can brand itself as THE “Crazy Pineapple” poker room. I would love to be able to find that game there regularly.

Also, I recently received some information regarding the rake on games at the TI poker room.

Low Limit: All the limit games (up through 4/8) will be 10% $4 max rake.

No Limit and Mid-Limit: Instead of a rake, the NL Hold’em and 9/18 Hold’em games will collect time. 1/3 NL will be $4/person/half hr and the 3/6 will be $5/half hr. I don’t have the details yet for the timed rake on the 9/18 limit game.

As for comps - players can earn $1/hr in comps with their MGM-Mirage players card.

A few people who have already seen the poker room in person noted that it is very nice looking, with high quality poker tables and plasma screen televisions. Also, another cool feature is the ability for poker players to add their names to the waitlist from their televisions inside TI guest rooms, or by telephone.

Lastly, the TI poker room will have its “soft-opening” without much fanfare on April 12th. However, some sort of grand opening celebration may be planned a week or two thereafter; possibly on April 22nd.

Thanks very much to all the sources that provided this information.
